HIstory

River of Life Missionary Church was started on the back porch of the home of Pastor Roderick Hoffman. Prior to making the move to Michigan City, he was the Founder & Sr. Pastor of Living Water Missionary Church in Gary, Indiana and felt the Lord calling him to Michigan City to start a church. Along with his two sons - Roscoe and Joel - he and his wife Lorraine made the move to Michigan City in the summer of 2001 and began focusing on the homeless, drug addicts, and all the other people struggle with addicts and problems in their lives.

The group moved into a few locations after the back porch (Life Training Center, St Andrews) until the final move to the former Zion Gospel Church building. Pastor Roderick continued to be the Sr. Pastor of the church while the congregation began to grow.  After a few years, Pastor Roderick heard the voice of God saying that it was time to move on and hand off the baton. In 2009, Pastor Roderick handed the baton of Sr. Pastor to Walter Day who desires to take the church to the next level in Christ Jesus.

In 2012, Pastor Roderick, along with the District Superintendent, passed the baton to his eldest son - Roscoe - who has embraced the Pastoral calling and is pushing the fundamental focus of winning souls and brings those on the streets into the House of God so they can experience His Goodness.

The focus of River of Life Church has not changed in that it still focuses on those people struggling with addictions and problems. Additionally, Pastor Roscoe has added the focus of our local neighborhood and community.

Currently Pastor Roderick is overseeing the ministry at River of Life as he guides his son through the first years of Pastoral Ministry. Additionally, he is overseer of Living Waters Church in Gary and other church plants he started in South Africa.

River of Life is excited and enjoying being part of the Lord's work through various avenues including the work with the Homeless Shelter Ministry.
